ArtCrazed :: Blog :: Wax Likeness of Hitler Is Attacked in Berlin

July 07, 2008

Opening day of the Madame Tussauds wax museum in Berlin on Saturday did not exactly go off without a hitch. A visitor shoved a guard and another employee out of the way, then ripped the head off a wax sculpture of Hitler, right, The Associated Press reported. The man was taken into custody, and the statue was temporarily removed from display. The inclusion of a Hitler likeness at the attraction had drawn criticism in the German news media before the opening, but Madame Tussauds officials said they felt strongly that Hitler was an important figure in German history and should be included. The statue was cordoned off, and the display included a sign asking visitors to refrain from taking photographs or posing with Hitler, out of respect for those who died in World War II. Visitors are permitted to photograph and pose with the collection’s 75 other figures.

  3.   Timing is everything, Hans! Maybe we'll add some colorful touches to the Bush "library" when it opens!

  4. I sure hope so. I was stunned to see the Democrats bow to his law changes on privacy for US citizens once again in the senate last week, but hopefully I was misinformed. Be sure you take pictures of that colorful art happening! :)
